Storage and Handling

Store in cool dry place away from the sun. Ginger can be stored in the refrigerator for about two weeks or frozen for a few months. Handle all fresh produce with care and wash before eating.

 

History

Ginger originated in southern provinces of China and India where it has been used in food and medicines for over 5000 years and was used in ancient times as a preservative and to treat digestive ailments. Greeks used to eat ginger wrapped in bread dough and then it was eventually added to bread to create gingerbread.
