Herbed Garlic Naan
Serves: 10 as a side
Preparation: 30 Minutes
Cooking: 25 Minutes
Ingredients
1 teaspoon instant yeast
1 tablespoons sugar
¼ cup water, at room temperature
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
¾ cup milk, at room temperature
½ cup Greek yoghurt or plain yoghurt
Handful fresh parsley, roughly chopped
Topping
5 garlic cloves, minced
¼ cup butter, melted
Pinch of salt
Method
In a medium bowl, mix the water, sugar and yeast and allow to stand for 5 minutes
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda and baking powder
In the first bowl, add the milk and yoghurt and mix together. One this is mixed, add this mixture to the bowl with the dry ingredients
Knead the mixture with your hands until it forms a ball. Place into a bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let the dough rise for 2 hours, or until it doubles in size
Place melted butter, salt and garlic in a small bowl and combine
Place the dough onto a floured surface and knead and divide the dough into 12 portions. Roll out each portion
Once all of the portions are rolled out, heat a skillet over low heat
Brush one side of the dough with the butter and garlic mixture and place the buttered side onto the skillet. Cook each naan for 1-2 minutes on each side or until the dough browns and puffs up
Sprinkle each naan with parsley, and drizzle with any extra butter and garlic mixture. Best served warm
